Since leaving New York City a few months ago to spend some time in
Thailand, Judith Supine has moved in a new direction with his artwork.
So far, he's posted photos on his flickr of three new outdoor pieces.
None have his trademark Supine-green tint, and all three are more like
2d sculptures than wheatpastes. Like Supine's famous girl atop the
Williamsburgh Bridge, these new works are being placed in unexpected
places (such as trees).
I imagine these would be some of the strangest things to see in person, especially if you aren't looking for them. But don't worry, the work still has other classic Supine characteristics, like being made of randomly sourced photos that have been collaged together and looking subtly disturbing. Of course, art that looks good outdoors doesn't always work well inside a gallery.
I'm curious to see what sort of studio work Supine is making, and if it has any relation to these new pieces.
