I Mutanti is the exhibition catalog for the Villa Medici exhibition of the same title. The catalog is made up of five volumes that correspond to the five artists participating in the show. This five-volume catalog represents the work of the some most controversial and thought-provoking artists of the 21st century. Each fifty-six-page volume can be acquired individually or together as the full collection. Each book includes a montage of over 25 full color images prepared by the respective artist and texts in three languages (French, Italian, and English) by Villa Medici director, Eric de Chassey.
Stephen Dean is a French-American artist, born in Paris and working in residence at the Villa Medici until March 2010. Dean’s work in sculpture, installation, and video is an exploration of color and its use in understanding objects and experiences.Dean investigates cultural authenticity by assigning new meaning to ordinary objects through compositions of color and sensory association.
